$DOGA is an FA 1.2 standard utility token created on the Tezos blockchain. With its total circulating supply of 1,000,000,000, this finite and scarce resource is vital and one that Dogamí owners must acquire in order to interact with the DOGAMI ecosystem and its users.
In this article, we’ll cover the easiest ways to for users to buy $DOGA from two different platforms and also show you how to get $DOGA directly with your credit/debit card:
- Buy $DOGA on a centralized exchange (Gate.io)
- Buy $DOGA on a decentralized exchange (Vortex)
- Buy $DOGA with a debit/credit card (Wert)
Before we dive in, here’s a brief reminder of our token’s utility:
- A digital voucher for the purchase of virtual dogs, NFT accessories, and $STAR in-game currency to invest in the development of your Dogamí
- Stake $DOGA to gain staking rewards
- Governance features — The largest $DOGA holders can become representatives of the DOGA Council.
- $DOGA can be used to purchase license and merchandise products with merch drop vouchers
OPTION 1: Buy $DOGA via a Centralized Exchange (CEX)
At the time of writing, $DOGA can be acquired via 2 different CEX’s:
➡️ Gate.io through the USDT/DOGA trading pair
➡️ Bitmart through the USDT/DOGA trading pair
This just means you need one of those two currencies to get the other. 👌
Note: certain countries cannot presently obtain $DOGA through this particular exchange but our team is in discussion with other exchanges to multiply your golden ticket entry points.
To get started ➡️ create an account. You will need to complete a minimum amount of KYC, set up Two-Factor authentification (through Google Authenticator), and/or bind your phone number to your Gate account. These two steps are recommended to add an extra layer of security.
Step 1: Purchase USDT
In order to get $DOGA, you must first acquire USDT — Tether, a stablecoin that is by design pegged to 1$ USD. Credit Card and Bank Transfers are available but this tutorial only covers card purchases.
Click “Buy Crypto” from the header menu then click “Credit Card”.
Select your “Fiat Currency” from the left drop-down menu and choose USDT from “Currency Purchased” on the right.
Next select a service provider and continue to payment.
A recap of your order is displayed just above the purchase button. Once you click purchase, you be will redirected to the selected payment gateway.
Step 2: Exchange USDT for $DOGA
Click “Trade” and select “Spot Trading” (standard).
Once you’re own the trading page, search for the DOGA_USDT trading pair.
When the trading pair is correctly selected, it will appear in your window.
We want to convert USDT into $DOGA. You will see the specific button for that under the chart. Enter the amount of USDT you wish to convert. Alternatively, click the small arrow just above the green button to select a percentage of your USDT to be converted to $DOGA.
You will see the price per $DOGA, the amount of $DOGA you wish to buy and how much it will be in USDT. Click the green “Buy” button when you’ve finished.
An order confirmation prompt will appear asking you to confirm the transaction. Users must also enter a fund password to execute the order (different from your regular password).
Step 3: Withdrawing $DOGA from Gate to your wallet
⚠️ Gate.io prevents you from withdrawing funds from your account if it is less than 24 hours old. You will also be prevented from withdrawing funds if you change your password or your fund password. You must also ensure you complete all the necessary KYC steps to withdraw your funds.
From Gate’s main menu, click on “Wallet” and then on “Withdraw”:
On the Withdraw page, search $DOGA in the search box:
When $DOGA is selected, check the XTZ radio button.
Next, you need to indicate the Tezos address you’re sending your funds to as well as the specified amount. This should be a Tezos Beacon wallet, such as Temple/Kukai/Air Gap if you are using the wallet for future mints.
To get your Tezos address, you must go to your Tezos wallet (here we using Temple) and click receive:
You will then see your Tezos Wallet address (this particular address has been hidden). For ease, you can click “Copy to clipboard.”
Go back to Gate and paste your Tezos Wallet Address. Then add an account name and an amount. To be absolutely certain you are sending your $DOGA to the correct address you can send first send a small amount to see if the transfer goes through correctly and then send the remaining balance afterwards.
You will also be prompted for your fund password (this password unlocks your funds) and some extra security codes which we recommend you set up to safeguard your account. Once these are entered, hit “Submit request”.
You will be prompted to confirm the transaction. Once you have done this, you transaction will go into the withdrawal queue underneath. The process may take a few minutes.
All that’s left to do is check your wallet balance on Temple to ensure the transaction has been completed!
OPTION 2: Buy $DOGA on a Decentralized Exchange (DEX)
For users who are more crypto literate and/or cannot acquire $DOGA from Gate, you can:
➡️ Swap XTZ for $DOGA on ️Vortex.
Vortex is a decentralized exchange built on Tezos that enables users to exchange tokens in a peer-to-peer marketplace. Unlike centralized exchanges, there is no center al intermediary, and trades are performed without the use of fiat currency.
For this reason, you’ll need a Tezos Wallet and it is paramount that this wallet contains some XTZ. XTZ is the token you will exchange for $DOGA. If you don’t know how to set up a Tezos wallet, this article will you help you.
Step 1: Add the DOGA Token Address to Your Wallet
If you are acquiring $DOGA for the first time, you need to add the token to your wallet otherwise the token might not be visible. Open your wallet (Temple wallet, in this case)and scroll down to the manage section.
Click “Add asset”.
Add the following address to the Address box (this is the $DOGA token contract address): KT1Ha4yFVeyzw6KRAdkzq6TxDHB97KG4pZe8
The fields should update with information relative to the $DOGA token. Scroll to the bottom and click “Add Asset.”
$DOGA is now visible in your wallet and you’re ready to add to it.
Step 2: Connect Your Wallet and swap XTZ for $DOGA
From the Vortex home page, click connect wallet.
Once connected, click “Trade” from the top menu.
You will be presented with a default trading pair. Head over to the trading pairs window and click the bottom currency (where it currently says SMAK):
To trade Tezos XTZ for $DOGA, look up the $DOGA token in the search bar and click “+Add new token”.
You should now be able to add the amount of XTZ (Tezos) you would like to swap for $DOGA (here 2 XTZ for 31.5241 $DOGA). Enter your desired amount (make sure you have enough left over to pay for transaction and liquidity provider fees).
When you’re ready click “Swap”.
A confirmation prompt will appear asking you to confirm your swap.
You will then be prompted by your wallet to sign the transaction and confirm the swap. Your balances should update fairly quickly afterward. If they don’t, disconnect and reconnect your wallet.
OPTION 3: Purchase $DOGA directly with a debit/credit card
Not too familiar with exchanges? No stress. You can now purchase $DOGA directly with your card by using a recently integrated fiat to crypto payment service called Wert.
➡️ Buy $DOGA with a card from the marketplace (you need to connect your wallet first).
Once you’ve connected your wallet to the DOGAMÍ website, this service will enable you to buy $DOGA directly with fiat currency through a card payment.
